St. Thomas, Ontario~ Olympic Gold Spirit continues! During the first intermission of the St. Thomas Star’s Game, Wayne and Mary Thornton, proud parents of Olympic Gold Medalist Joe Thornton joined local dignitaries, friends, fans and neighbours to honour the community’s Golden Boy.
Joe joined the St. Thomas Stars in 1993 moving on to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds then to the Boston Bruins as the overall 1st Round Draft pick in 1997. Joe joined the San Jose Sharks in 2005 and played for Team Canada in the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics.
Over 700 people took part in the celebration honouring the 2-time Olympian. Future celebrations are being planned.
