FedDev Ontario supporting southern Ontario economic recovery for Thames Centre

Thorndale, Ontario — Joe Preston, MP for Elgin-Middlesex-London, today announced that The Municipality of Thames Centre will receive an investment of more than $2.9million for the Thorndale Business Park and Employment Lands Infrastructure Project  through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).

“This investment will provide much-needed stimulus funding to support our region’s ongoing economic resurgence,” said MP Joe Preston. “I am pleased that this funding will allow businesses in Thames Centre to expand, become more competitive and secure new market opportunities.”

“I am extremely pleased that the Federal Government has approved our CAF application for the cost for the Thorndale Business Park and Employment Lands construction project”, commented Mayor Jim Maudsley. “Council and staff identified this infrastructure project as being critical to the long term future of the residents of the community and we are most pleased that the Federal Government has supported this infrastructure investment with their project funding”, he added.

The project includes construction of an elevated water tower, municipal access roads on the business park site with full services (water, sanitary, storm and utilities) for adjacent employment lands complementing the infrastructure works completed under BCF

This project will be funded through the Community Adjustment Fund, a two-year, $1-billion national program aimed at addressing the short-term economic needs of communities hit hardest by the global economic recession. The approved project must meet the terms and conditions set out in the contribution agreement.
